Shanghai is also under the threat of natural water disasters. The sea level increases year by year and the city go deeper under the water. Shanghai is weakly equipped from the storm waters. Several years ago specialists from the Natural Hazards Edition wrote an article about Shanghai’s crucial climate changes. Every year the city has tropical showers. The level of underwater is getting higher, that gives fewer chances for saving the city.
Local administration spent about 163 million dollars and other things for controlling the water level. Undoubtedly, that is not enough for saving the city. Shanghai was placed in a list of the most threatened cities thanks to its population. If once the city is under a threat of full flood and destroy, the city government will have to spend a lot of time and money for the evacuation of locals.
Many people don’t want to leave their houses even under the death threat. According to this, the situation makes more crucial. Strong showers make deep rivers from the large city streets, which became habitual for locals. People, who live near the coast, have a boat. It is their only way of moving during the consecutive flooding.
