The cave has been named in honour of the discoverer, a well-known French spearologist Louis Armand. He found the cave in 1897. For a free visit it was only opened 30 years later. Nowadays, visitors of the unique natural site can go down the cave with a cable car. The first observation platforms were built in 1927.
