In the southern part of China is the famous Xiangshan Mountain, the main feature of which is the most beautiful natural arch. Literally the name of the mountain can be translated as ‘Elephant’s Trunk’. With its outlines the mountain really resembles a huge elephant that drinks water. In the warm season, a special charm of the mountain is given by the dense vegetation covering its slopes. The natural landmark is in the central area of Guilin, at the confluence of the Li River with the Peach Blossom River.
Elephant Mountain is the most important landmark of Guilin. Xiangshan has a lot of incredible secrets that experienced tourists can personally explore. In the interior of the arch there is a small cave called the Water Moon. If you visit it on a full moon night, you can admire the fabulously beautiful scenery of the river, which is especially unique in the moonlight. Surprisingly, in search of inspiration, the cave was visited by poets and artists as early as the 12th century, as evidenced by memorable inscriptions left on the walls.
At the top of the mountain is a cave with the symbolic name Elephant Eye, it is quite large in size and is one of the best places to admire the surroundings from the height.
Travellers who dare to get to the top of the mountain will wait for another surprise. At the top is a famous Puxian pagoda, the construction of which was held in the 14th century, it is an invaluable religious and architectural monument.
