In California on the Feather River has placed Oroville Dam that is one of the most attractive in the world. This is a rockfill dam that has been built from 1961 until 1668. Oroville Dam is the largest in the world, 2 110 meters long and 235 meters high. This dam became known for the world in 2017 after a serious accident.
The water level in the reservoir has become to grow because of strong rains. That lead to the destruction of some parts of the dam. It was decided to begin an active water release on 10 February but numerous pieces of the construction have blocked the stream course. On 12 February the work of the electricity generating industry was stopped. Locals were evacuated at risk of flooding.
Only thanks to the competent staff of the electricity generating industry and search and rescue service a huge breakdown didn’t happen and people stayed safe and sound. In regards to a crude estimate, about 200 000 people could suffer from the great flooding. Lately, the dam was entirely rebuilt, 275,4 million U.S. dollars were spent on it. Oroville Dam is the highest dam in the USA. There wasn’t any huge renovation works for the whole working period. Only one reason for the renovation works was a threaten of a serious tragedy that could claim thousands of lives.
