One of the main sightseeing in Kazan is Kul Sharif Mosque. It is situated on the territory of Kazan Kremlin and is known all over the world thanks to its unique architectural style. The main mosque of Tatarstan has a number of interesting facts. According to the historical data, until 1552 right here was the main mosque of Kazan Khanate. When Kazan was defeated by the troops of Ivan Grozny, the city was fully destroyed.

This mosque capacity is 1 500 people but the square can have up to 10 000 people. This is a real Muslim scarify place that's why it is closed for tourists. They can see the mosque only from two special balconies. Every element of decoration is very valuable. Masters from the whole world built this mosque.

The chandeliers and other lighting things were made by the scratches of famous Tatar artists in the Czech Republic. A marvellous carpet for the main praying hall is a handmade work of Iran people. Apart from the luxurious decoration, the mosque has a number of interesting things. In the main hall have placed books with names of all people who gave money for the building. When the mosque was opened, it got as a present the best Koran books wrote on different languages. All visitors can see these books in the mosque.
