The most extreme city in Mexico is Ciudad Juarez. That's not because of the risk of natural disasters or harsh weather. The main problem of this city, which, at first glance, doesn’t differ from other Mexican cities, is its unfavorable crime situation. The actual owners of the city are large criminal groups, and clashes between them affect ordinary citizens. Murders and other crimes are happening every day. Local authorities and the police in any way can't establish peaceful life in the city.
The population of Ciudad Juarez is about 1.5 million people. There are many industrial centers in one of the most criminogenic cities. The tourism sector occupies its place in local economy too. Naturally, only the safest and most comfortable areas of the city with many historical and cultural sights are open to tourists. However, after dark, it's better not to walk alone even in these areas.
Ciudad Juarez is the beautiful colonial city that was founded by settlers from Spain in the 17th century. The city has many surviving buildings of the colonial era, historical areas, and monuments. The high level of crime is quite new to the city; it all started in the end of the 80s. Every year, more than 2 000 people are killed there. The main reason for this unfavorable situation are hidden cartels. Representatives of law and order can not get rid of them for more than 30 years.
