In 2007, remains of the unknown specie of dinosaur have been discovered in Queensland, Australia. This animal was named Kunbarrasaurus ieversi. The Australian Geographic was the first press to say about the sensational discovery. Following the research, scientists explained that they had found the bones belonging to a small armored dinosaur that was similar to a sheep in its size.
Even more surprising was the fact that the first type of the dinosaur bone was found in the same archaeological area in 1989. They were mistakenly attributed to the remains of dinosaurs of the already known specie, Minmi. Only after research in the fossil zone has been resumed, scientists realized that it was completely different form of lizards. The dinosaur of a new kind was named Zach; it dwelt on this planet about 97 million years ago.
These probably herbivorous dinosaurs lived at the lake. Today there is a large sheep farm in this area. Another important discovery shocked Australia in 2004, when the remains of the largest of the currently known dinosaurs were found in Queensland. The length of the reptile reached 30 meters. Scientists believe that the fossil-rich area has many important artifacts hidden inside. Travellers who are fans of scientific discoveries can search for excursions to the iconic archaeological areas of Australia. Some of the most amazing findings are presented today at the paleontological section of the Queensland Museum.
