The Lynton & Lynmouth Cliff railway in Great Britain is often compared with roller-coaster. And it is not casual, since the railroad passes through the high cliffs separating the towns of Lynton and Lynmouth. It’s hard to imagine that a construction of such a complicated railroad began in the late 19th century and was completed in less than three years. Already in 1890, the first car that reminded a big lift glided forward on its first journey.
Nowadays, the railway comprises two cars, capable of transporting 80 passengers. The way forward is full of steep gradients, so the cars move much more slowly than a trolley on traditional roller coaster. Lynton & Lynmouth Cliff railway is surrounded by picturesque mountain scenery. Nature lovers and thrill seekers will definitely not be disappointed by a ride on the great scenic railway where the edges of steep cliffs are perfectly seen.
