Peyto Lake is a glacier-fed lake in Banff National Park in the Canadian Rockies. This lake has placed in a wonderful valley near the mountain range, its area is about 5,3 square meters. The lake extends for about 2,8 kilometers long and 800 meters in width. It was found by the traveler Bill Peyto. That’s why it was decided to name the lake in honor of its discoverer.
One of the main peculiarities of the lake is its unusual form. If we appear at the bird's eyes view, we will see that the lake has a form of a big wolf’s head. The water of dark turquoise color attracts people views. Every year the lake is replenished with the fresh water through nearby glaciers. Mountain streams bring grains of minerals that make water colour unusual. Today on the shore of the lake you can find several equipped recreation camps, where you can relax and enjoy with the splendour of nature.
Fans of fishing will love these places very much. The lake has a lot of fish of different species, among them – rainbow trout, salmon, pike and other species of noble fish. For fishing there, you have to get the license. Guests of the reservation can walk in the wide forests that have placed right around the lake. Rare animals and birds also live there. In summertime you can see even rare flowers and plants.
