Excellent viewing platforms are equipped at the 86th and 102nd floors of the skyscraper; they provide panoramic views of Manhattan and coastal areas. Despite the fact that the height of the skyscraper is far from record-setting and is only 443 meters, Empire State Building continues to be one of the most important sights of the United States. At the opening the skyscraper was the first building in the world having more than a hundred floors.
A significant part of the skyscraper is occupied by offices, and tourists can visit several showrooms and viewing platforms. You can get to the observation deck by elevator, but many fans of extreme prefer to go out on foot up the stairs; they have to overcome a little less than 2,000 steps to get to the entrance of the nearest observation deck. An interesting competition is annually held there. That’s a race up the stairs to the 86th floor, in which only the most prepared and endurant athletes take part.
