Airport location, terminals and transportation
Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport is owned by the city of New Orleans. The distance between Downtown New Orleans and the air terminal makes up 19 km. The air terminal started functioning as a commercial facility after World War II, in 1946. It was originally named Moisant Field after the aviator John Moisant, who died in an airplane crash on the agricultural land where the airport was later built. The airport was last renamed in 2001, in honour of the famous jazz musician Louis Armstrong, who came from New Orleans.
Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport operates two runways and two passenger terminal (East and West). Four concourses (A, B, C, and D) serve as lounges. The airport services 12 million people every year and operates passenger flights to the following destinations: Canada, the Dominican Republic, Mexico, the Republic of Panama, Great Britain, and Germany. It also handles domestic flights.
The airport is connected to the city by bus routes 202 (Airport Express Route) and E-2 (Jefferson Transit bus). Bus and taxi stops are placed in front of the main entrance to the terminals, opposite the short-term parking garage. Transport network companies Uber and Lyft are authorized to operate at the airport. Limousine services are available in the designated parking lot.
Rental offices, how to find them, where to return car
You can rent a car from one of the agencies which are found in the Consolidated Rental Car Facility. These are Alamo, Avis, Budget, Dollar, Enterprise, Hertz, National, Payless, and Thrifty. In order to get to the Consolidated Rental Car Facility, you should walk to the baggage claim hall in the West Terminal and proceed outside the building. The exit is positioned near Baggage Carousels 12-14. Then you should go through a covered walkway to your right that leads to the customer service building.
All the rental vehicles are collected from and returned to the designated multi-level garage (at Rental car Blvd), which is situated next to the Consolidated Rental Car Facility.

When concluding a rental agreement upon a preliminary reservation, you must present a printed voucher. If necessary, the employees of the Consolidated Rental Car Facility may provide a free road map of New Orleans to its customers.
Long-term and short-term parking, hotels nearby
Short-term and long-term parking is available in parking garages beside the terminals. The parking garages are connected with each other and with the terminals by two sky bridges. Credit Card Parking Lot is set behind to the Consolidated Rental Car Facility. There is no shuttle service to this parking lot, as it is within walking distance of the terminal. Free parking is provided to people with disabilities and veterans.
City hotels offer a low-cost shuttle service to and from Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport to their guests. The nearest hotels to the airport are the Days Inn by Wyndham (1.1 kilometre), the Hilton (1.2 kilometre), the Radisson Hotel (2.1 kilometres), the Red Roof Inn (1.7 kilometre), and the Holiday Inn.
