Louisville International Airport is a joint civil and military airport. The airfield is located in Louisville, the state of Kentucky, the United States. The airport was built in 1941. Its original name was Standiford Field, in honour of the local politician and the owner of the land on which the facility was built. In 1947, the airport was turned over to the Louisville Air Board for commercial operations. SDF encompasses three runways and a passenger terminal named after Jerry E. Abramson. The airfield handles a lot of international cargo and commercial flights. Its passenger traffic amounts to 3.5 million people a year. Several companies providing car rental services cooperate with Louisville International Airport. These are Alamo, Avis, Budget, Dollar, Enterprise, Hertz, National, Payless, and Thrifty. All the car rental counters are placed on the arrival level, opposite the exits from the baggage claim hall, between the exits from the terminal. Phone numbers for contact and preliminary reservation can be obtained on the website of the airport, as well as at the information desks near the baggage claim area. The companies do not operate at night. All the car rental counters are closed after 1 a.m. They start working at 5 or 6 a.m., depending on the company. If your flight arrives after hours, you should notify the selected company in advance.

A designated parking lot where rental vehicles are collected from and returned to is situated on the west end of the terminal. In order to get to the parking lot, you should exit through the arrival level on the lower floor and proceed to the west end of the passenger terminal.

Parking facilities of the international airport include a long-term parking lot (no hourly rates); valet parking near the terminal (the upper departure level); a multi-level garage with hourly rates, for parking under 4 hours (level 1) and over 4 hours (level 1-4), opposite the terminal; a premium-class parking lot (level 1 of the parking garage); a parking lot within walking distance, on the east end of the terminal (only credit cards are accepted for payment). The first 10 minutes of parking are free of charge. Shuttles run to the parking lots.

The hotels nestled in the vicinity of the airport offer booking services and a free shuttle service from and to the airport to their potential clients. They are the Comfort Suites, the Courtyard by Marriott, the Crowne Plaza, the Hampton Inn, the Holiday Inn Express, the Sheraton, the Sleep Inn, and the Seelbach Hilton. Shuttles stop beside the taxi stand.
