Airport location, terminals and transportation
Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport is the airport of the international level. It is the busiest one in Texas and is among the ten busiest airports in the world. It is located roughly halfway between the cities of Dallas and Fort Worth, and owes its name to the latter. The passenger traffic of the airfield amounts to about 70 million people per year. The airport occupies a substantial area. It is the second largest airport of the United States. It encompasses 7 runways. The airport started functioning in 1974 as a regional one, but changed its status to international in 1985. The automated high-speed Skylink train runs between the 5 current terminals (A, B, C, D, and E). The capacity of the airport allows for its expansion to 13 terminals in the future. Terminal D is an international one.
The airport is connected with the nearby cities by rail. A local bus goes to the railway station. Taxi services are available at the top levels of all the terminals, except Terminal D, where you can take a taxi on the lower level. Taxi request may be done at the desks in the terminal buildings. Limousine delivery companies as well as several network companies operate in the airport (a reservation can be made through the online services). Charter transportation services are also provided here.
Rental offices, how to find them, where to return car
A round-the-clock car rental centre operates at DFW. The centre is located near the South entrance to the terminal (Address: 38-th St, DFW Airport, TX). Customers are served in it by twelve leading firms. These are Advantage, Avis, Alamo, Budget, Dollar, Hertz, Enterprise, National, Thrifty, Payless, and Sixt. Free telephones and contact details for the vehicle hire firm are found next to the information desks in the arrival hall. In order to get to the centre, the arriving passengers should be guided by the information signs, leading to the lower level of the terminal. The signs are placed in the arrival hall. Buses, going to the car rental centre, depart regularly from the lower level. Cars are also returned to the parking lot of the centre, to which clients are led by the information signs across the territory of the airport. A shuttle will take you to the necessary terminal within 10 minutes. Shuttle service is available 24 hours a day.
Long-term and short-term parking, hotels nearby
Each terminal has its own parking. These are multilevel facilities equipped with modern control systems (for example, in Terminal D). They are connected with the terminal buildings by passages and travelators. There is a prepaid parking system. A preliminary reservation of a parking space will let you save up to 50% of its cost. Express parking lots are situated next to the terminals, and long-stay car parks are only a short distance away. Shuttles bring passengers to them.
Hotels of different levels are concentrated in the airport. The Grand Hyatt Hotel is positioned in International Terminal D. The Hyatt Regency is nestled beside Terminal C. The Hyatt Place is on the south side of the airport, near the car rental centre. The Minute Suites is set in Terminal D. The hotels provide free delivery, parking services and valet parking services.
