Istanbul Sabiha Gokcen Airport was built to replace capital AtatĂĽrk Airport. The airport is located 30 km from the city. It was opened in 2001. It was named after the first female pilot of the Turkish Air Force. The airport services about 25 million passengers every year and has only one air-strip. The passenger complex consists of three terminals.
The airport is linked with the capital by the highway E-80. At Sabiha Gokcen, you can take an express or usual bus (E3, E9, E10, E11, 16S, KM33, 122H, 132H, 130H) or a shuttle («Havataş») along the route «SG-1 - Kozyatagi». The bus station is located at the exit from the terminal. Near the terminal, there is a taxi rank, so you can order a transfer to any place in advance. The pier and the railway station are located 14 km from the territory of the airport.
Car rental services are provided by the following companies having subsidiaries all over the world: Avis, Budget, Enterprise, Europcar, Goldcar, Hertz, Payless, Sixt, Rent Go. Besides the companies specified, there are the following local companies at the airport: Avro rent car, Modoglu group (Bostanci rent a car), Central, Cizgi rent a car, Euronet car rental, Garenta, Nord Travel.
Car rental offices are located in the passenger terminal and offer round-the-clock support to the airport guests. To get to car rental stations, you need to go out of the baggage claim area. There are information stands of car rental companies opposite the fourth baggage conveyor belt. Companies’ stands are located between the entrance and the exit of the passenger terminal. Rented cars are received and returned to the garage near the passenger terminal.
