Istanbul, Turkey: SUV and Offroad Rental Tips
The most popular SUV models offered at rental locations in Istanbul are: Toyota Landcruiser, Toyota Fortuner, Daihatsu Terios, Hyundai Santa Fe, Hyundai Tuscon, Toyota 4Runner and others.

While selecting your preferred model of an off-road vehicle, please examine the rental conditions. In particular, those requirements that concern credit cards – when it comes to renting an expensive car, sometimes offices in Turkey ask information about two credit cards.

Before signing the contract in the rental office upon arrival, check that the invoice figures match with figures in your voucher.

Once the vehicle is assigned, inspect it carefully before leaving the parking. Crossovers and SUVs are often used in tough road conditions, therefore scratches and other exteriour defects are inevitable. Due to this, it is important to check and specify all existing defects in your rental documents.

If you plan to use an off-road vehicle in the mountains, it is recommended to order snow chains. This will save you from unexpected incidents. Other important equipment in Turkey are mandatory child seats for travellers with children. OrangeSmile.com wishes you a safe trip and green lights on the roads of Istanbul!

Autobahns have a special payment system. The entrances to all toll roads are equipped with turnstiles, where drivers must present a special card. The card costs approximately 20 liras and is suitable for driving on all toll roads of the country.
Initially, the card has approximately 15 liras on account. When entering a highway, you simply need to attach the card to the indicator on the turnstile, and it will open immediately. A certain sum of money will be withdrawn from the card as a pay for using the toll road. As a rule, it is not more than 3 liras.
The petrol is very expensive in Turkey, so one liter of 95-octane gasoline will cost you no less than 4 liras (3 USD). The diesel fuel is cheaper. Its average cost is approximately 3.5 liras for one liter. However, the diesel fuel is consumed much faster, so the economy is quite unclear.
