Searching for open roof cars

Preset configuration of the white form above - search for an exotic car or a cabriolet at 'Basel - Airport'. Address: Basel-Mulhouse Airport, Basel, Switzerland.

In Basel, we provide vehicles at 7 different rental locations. Cars with a folding roof are rather of a rare type, so they are mostly offered in airports and railway stations.

We advise booking a cabriolet in Switzerland in advance (several weeks or even several months prior to your trip), since the availability of convertibles in our car park is quite limited.

Basel, Switzerland: cabriolet rental hints
The most widespread cabriolet models offered for rent in Switzerland are: BMW 3 series Cabriolet, Peugeot 206 Cabriolet, Renault Megane Cabriolet, Audi A3 Convertible, Audi A4 Convertible and BMW Z4 Roadster.

At the booking time, please check the rental conditions carefully. Quite often, rental offices in Basel require two credit cards to guarantee issuance of a cabrio or a roadster.

We recommend ordering additional no-excess insurance that covers your risk (franchise), since the franchise amount for cabriolets in Switzerland is quite high.

Make sure to inspect the rental invoice issued at the office in Basel and compare it with the information indicated in your voucher. Sometimes, rental officers make 'unintentional' mistakes in rental invoices.

In parking garage, examine the vehicle for defects and scratches carefully. If you find any of them, check whether they have been specified in your rental document.

When parking a cabriolet in Basel, it is recommended to unfold the roof and close windows in order to prevent theft or robbery.

OrangeSmile.com wishes you an exciting journey with an open roof around Switzerland!

Driving Advices for Switzerland – Traffic Regulations and Road Usage Peculiarities
Previous hints
Drivers, who plan to travel in the mountain areas, should not forget the following recommendation. When leaving the car in the parking lot, do not forget to remember its location (drivers are also advised to add some distinguishing features to their cars, for example, to tie a bright cloth to the antenna). It may start snowing in the mountains literally at any moment, so in a few hours all the cars in the parking lot can be hidden under a thick layer of snow.
Foreign drivers, who are not accustomed to driving on difficult mountain roads, should definitely not forget to check the weather forecast in advance. Difficult mountain roads together with bad weather are a big risk for inexperienced drivers.
When driving on a mountain road, in no case should drivers hurry, even if there is a row of cars behind your vehicle. You should move to the first special “pocket” on the side of the road and pass all the cars that move behind you.

Enjoying sights of Basel in cabriolet
Basel Cathedral is known as the main object of tourist excursions. During hundreds of years the cathedral remains the undisputed symbol of the city. Its construction took place in the middle of the 12th century. In 1356 the cathedral was damaged badly by the earthquake and it was partially destroyed. The high and beautiful building was fully restored within the short period of time. Nowadays the Cathedral looks as flawless and impressive, as it was in the medieval period. The Spalentor (Spalen Gate) is a no less beautiful architectural monument of the city. The gates were built in the 14th century. On each side of the central arch of the gate are located two ancient towers. Originally the construction was a part of a large fortification facility and it divided the territory of the ancient city from its defensive line.

Fasnacht Brunnen fountain is another prominent architectural landmark of the city. The appearance of the fountain is associated with a truly interesting story. Several centuries ago the main city theater was located on the site of the modern fountain. However, the theater was completely destroyed by fire. One of the local residents decided to use the theatre decorations, which had survived after the fire, as the main building material for the construction of the fountain. Today you can see a beautiful sculptural composition next to the fountain. The sculpture looks truly stunning surrounded by bright jets of water. Basel is home to a huge number of museums and galleries. Many cultural institutions are the location of very original and unexpected exhibitions.
