Gravad lax or cold cured salmon is a popular Swiss delicacy. To make this dish, you will need 800gr of salmon fillet on the skin; 100gr of sugar, sea salt, and fresh dill; 1tsp of fresh white pepper. Ingredients for sauce: 2tbsp of sugar and Swedish mustard, 1-2tbsp of vinegar, 200ml of vegetable oil with a neutral taste. Remove scale and make small cuts on the skin, generously cover the filet with sugar, salt, and spices on both sides. Put the fish under the press and leave it like that for 2-4 hours. Then put the fish into the refrigerator for 1-2 days, turning the filet from time to time. Before serving, clean the fish from salt and sugar, slice, and add sauce.
Fruit punch and mulled wine are the drinks that tourists in Sweden simply cannot miss. These drinks are usually made during the Christmas period. The mulled wine is easy to make at home: warm wine (but make sure it doesn’t boil), then add cloves, raisins, cardamom, and almonds. You can also add such ingredients as cinnamon, orange zest, and nutmeg. The ingredients needed for punch: rum, lemon, a glass of water, 150gr of sugar, a pinch of black tea, cardamom, and cloves. Slice lemon, add cloves and cardamom and then cover them with rum. Leave the mixture for a day. Make tea and dissolve sugar in it. Filter the alcoholic infusion and then mix it with tea. Leave the drink for one more day and then the punch is ready!
