This is a port town located in the southern part of the country. Kalmar occupies the territory of several islands that are connected through a system of bridges. This makes this place quite unusual for tourists and, thus, Kalmar is visited by larger number of guests year after year. The total length of bridges estimates 6,700 meters; currently Kalmar is a large center of shipbuilding and food industry.

Besides the fact the castle has been totally turned into a museum, some of its halls are opened to conduct banquets and conferences. Quite often here take place various concerts and cultural events. The town is surrounded by park that was founded yet in 1880. Here you can see different exotic plants, many of which are totally uncommon for this region.
