Seafood for locals is not just daily food, but the most important national symbol too. Many indigenous people dedicate their entire life to seafood harvesting and making crafts of it; this important element of national culture simply couldn’t escape the attention of foreigners. Every year, O Grove Islands host the amazing Fiesta del marisco, which is visited by about 200,000 people. The history of the holiday extends back over 50 years; during that time its program has being developed and the number of fans has been rising steadily.
The festival is held in October; it is visited by famous chefs and culinary critics from different countries, as well as ordinary travelers wishing to taste popular national delicacies. Large white tents are set on the coast; fresh seafood is delivered there.
A huge number of diverse oysters, squid, scallops, shrimp and fish is simply amazing; you can buy the most rare and exquisite seafood at those tents. Chefs consider this seafood to be worth its weight in gold. Exquisite velvet crabs, sea truffles and cuttlefish ink that are actively used in the food industry are sold there.
