Fans of painting would like a museum called the Pilar and Joan Miró Foundation, which bears the name of a famous Catalan artist. This museum was founded in 1981. It houses a rich collection of paintings, sculptures and ceramic products created by Juan Miró. The founder of the museum is the artist's wife named Pilar. She opened the museum after her husband's death right in his former studio. Now, the museum often holds interesting exhibitions and master classes.
Of great interest is the ancient La Granja Manor, as well as the historical museum located in it. This chic villa, surrounded by a lush tropical garden, was built in the 17th century. Now in its walls, an interesting collection of historical exhibits are kept, and on the territory of the villa there is an excellent restaurant of national cuisine.
Among the most large-scale historical buildings of Majorca, it is worth noting the Almudena Cathedral. It was built in the 14th century and is a vivid example of Moorish architecture. Originally, the huge building was the residence of the Viziers. Later, the castle was occupied by the Knights of Majorca, and afterwards the building was converted into a royal residence. This status remains strong even now. Important political events and meetings are held there. For more than 500 years, the fortress has managed to maintain its spectacular and unapproachable appearance.
