The Transfagarasan mountain road is located in Romania and passes in the Carpathians. It is a real world attraction. Repeatedly referred to in the television show Top Gear, the road is known to be one of the most difficult and dangerous highways in the world. Its construction began in 1970 and was completed four years later. The highway has become a shortcut between Transylvania and Walachia.
The Transfagarasan runs through the incredibly beautiful places. It has a high quality coating, however, the number of accidents and deaths is increasing every year. Sharp turns, tunnels and steep drops are a real disaster for drivers. This road is not for the faint hearted. The highway began to claim lives of people long before its final using. 40 people lost their lives during the construction when demolition work was carried out.
