Casa das Histórias Paula Rego is outstanding from an architectural point of view. The building designed by the architect Eduardo Souto de Moura was completed in 2000. Connoisseurs of fine arts will love it here too - inside they will find paintings by the Portuguese artist Paula Rego. It is worth noting that the project of the building was prepared in accordance with the requirements of the artist herself - thus, it must have been “fun, lively and a bit naughty”. It turned out to be realized, and today tourists can see such a magnificent building, an excellent example of modern architecture. However, art lovers will be happy to check one more place - Centro Cultural de Cascais where interesting temporary exhibitions are held every day.
Farol da Guia, a magnificent architectural and historical monument dating back to 1761, is another significant landmark of the city. Rising 58 meters above the waterfront, the lighthouse serves as an orienting point for tourists who know exactly what place they would like to explore next. It was decided to build the lighthouse after an earthquake that occurred in Lisbon in 1755 and almost completely destroyed a chapel on its site that once illuminated the way for sailors. Then the Marquis of Pombal insisted on building six lighthouses, one of which was Farol da Guia.
