In the very area of the Old Town is located many interesting attractions for tourists – among them are restaurants, shops, and hotels. You should definitely walk through the district so as to get a feel of the special atmosphere. Here is also located the Taras Widokowy, the highest point in the city, which allows you to look at the capital of Warsaw, the Vistula River and the surrounding area from a bird’s-eye view and enjoy unbelievably beautiful views. In order to climb to the summit, you need to overcome 130 steps on a spiral staircase. However, it should be noted that the spectacle is definitely worth it.
It is necessary to highlight another place for lovers of “sad romance” and places from which “the blood runs cold” (or “krew jest zimna”, as they would say here). We are referring to the Cmentarz Powązkowski, which was built about 200 years ago. Here you can find very beautiful tombstones, some of which can be considered real works of art. Besides this, famous people are buried here. Aside from this cemetery, there are as well two more, both of which are also located within the territory of the Cmentarz Powązkowski. They are; Cmentarz Zydowski, where the victims of the Holocaust are buried, and Cmentarz Ewangelicko – Augsburski, where those who fought for the Protestant faith found their last refuge.
