The village is characterized by the remote location. It’s far from major populated centers. However, in the middle of the 18th century, it was an important center of trade. Today, it’s an important settlement on the route of commercial vessels. Besides trade, the main mean of livelihood for local people is sea fishing, but it is seasonal. In recent years, the village of the Reine attracts tourists who want to admire the marvelous beauty of the sea and mountain scenery. The ancient settlement lies in the midst of many tourist routes.
Besides natural beauty, travelers are attracted by the unique architecture. There they can see fishing houses built over the water. Constructions are exactly the same as those built hundreds of years ago. Despite the fact that Reine is situated at a considerable distance from many of the major population centers, travelers can reach it even in winter. The village nestled in snow looks fantastic.
