The city constructs a huge amount of original light installations; after dark they look just fascinating. The main part of them is located in the central square of the city, which becomes pedestrian at the time of the festival.
After sunset, local attractions and houses are transformed beyond recognition because of the smart lighting. Lighting installations are varied and some solutions are striking with their simplicity and originality. The light festival lasts for a week; it is one of the dozen of the most interesting holidays held in Eindhoven.

In August, the Folkwoods Festival dedicated to national history and culture is celebrated, as well as the Sundance music festival that would please fans of reggae. In February, there is the colorful carnival; everyone will feel welcome at it.

As for other national characteristics, it is certainly worth noting that local people are fond of two-wheeled transport. Everyone has a bike there, thus, this popular transport has also received its own holiday. Every June, the international cycling race UCI ProTour is held in the city. It is an exciting and interesting event that is of interest not only to sport fans.
