Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia: Family Car Rental
The segments of standard, intermediate and full-size cars in Malaysia traditionally include the following vehicles: Hyundai Elantra, Mercedes C Class, Toyota Avensis, Nissan Primera, Hyundai Sonata, Renault Scenic and others.

The process of a car reservation on OrangeSmile.com consists of 3 simple steps: (1) search by the dates and pick-up location, (2) car type selection, and (3) booking form completion. After the booking, you will receive a rental voucher at your e-mail address.

Before selecting a specific model to book, check your planned routes. If you are going to drive mostly within the Kuala Lumpur borders, choose a car of 'Standard' or 'Compact' types. In case you plan long cross-countries trips or mountain adventures, the more comfortable and powerful 'Fullsize' models would become a better choice.

If you need a car with an automatic gearbox, try to make a reservation at least a few days before the pick-up date, since confirmation of such models in Kuala Lumpur might be delayed for a day or two.

Upon the return of your car, carefully check that the total payment amount (invoice) is computed according to the original rental conditions.

We wish you 'smooth', secure and safe roads in Kuala Lumpur!

Driving Advices for Malaysia – Traffic Regulations and Road Usage Peculiarities
Previous hints
To ensure the safety of road traffic, many large roads have a special lane for motorbikes and bicycles (as a rule, the extreme left one). Car drivers are not allowed to occupy such lanes.
If it is very simple to find a petrol station in the city, but in some suburban areas they are very rare. The distance between the nearest petrol stations may vary from 25 to 70km, so it is better to purchase some fuel in advance.
The majority of petrol stations are self-service ones. First you need to make the payment through the cashier and tell the number of the filling station. After this, you can go back and fill the tank.

Rental, parking and other info on Kuala Lumpur - Airport
Kuala Lumpur International Airport is the most important of all the airports in Malaysia. KLIA is one of the busiest airports not only in South-East Asia, but also in other airports. The airport is 46 km from Kuala Lumpur, in Sepang. It was opened in 1998. In the global ranking, the airport is the 23rd in the passenger turnover. It serves 59 million people every year. The terminals of the international airport have an ample capacity flow. KUL Airport was built in the agricultural field and is one of the largest airports. At KLIA, there are three air-strips managed by two control towers. The service infrastructure of the airport consists of two terminals: the master one and KLIA 2, as well as the satellite terminal and the terminal for low-cost companies.

The master terminal is linked with the satellite by Aerotrain, the automated transfer system. The railway line links the master terminal and KLIA 2. You can travel to the city from two railway stations at the airport. In the transport hub of the Gateway@klia2 Complex, there are places for different vehicles: taxi, public and private buses, limos, and rented cars. Taxi ranks and bus stops are situated near terminals.

At the airport, car rental services are provided by two international companies, Avis and Hertz. Other companies represent regional distributors: Kasina Baru, Pantas Rent A Car, Mayflower Car Rental, Orix Car Rental, Insas Pacific Rent A Car. Car rental stands are located in the arrival concourse (points #1-6, 10, 16). Pantas Rent A Car serves its clients in the parking area D (lot CR #17). Rental companies’ stands are open from 7 am to 22 pm. At the weekend and on holidays, they are open to 17 or 18 pm.

Near the long-term lot, these companies have a reserved parking area for rented vehicles.

Cars are taken and returned to the short-term parking lot near the master terminal. In KLIA 2, cars are taken and returned to Gateway@klia2.

To learn about the working hours of the chosen company, you should contact it beforehand. To book a car in advance, you can use an online car rental service. Read all...
Traveling in Kuala Lumpur with family car
It is uncommon to leave a tip in restaurants and hotels. In some upscale places, it may be included in the bill and is usually not more than 10% of the total order.

Locals are very hospitable, so in any case don’t refuse an invitation to come for a visit. Welcoming hosts would obviously offer guests some drinks and food that won’t be refused too.

It’s common to greet each other with a limp handshake. Hugs are suitable only for close friends or relatives; during intercourse no touching is allowed.

You have to take and pass food, money and other items with your right hand only. If you pass an object with your left hand, then this would be considered a serious insult, and may cause resentment.

On entering the religious objects and living spaces be sure to take off your shoes. Travelers who expect to attend mosques and other places of worship should choose clothes carefully. It shouldn’t be too bright and open-necked.
