As for cultural institutions, the most interesting and visited one is Sabah State Museum . It is housed in a quite unusual structure built in the image of traditional huts of the Murut and the Rungus people. The collection of the museum's exhibits is very diverse, including unique historical artifacts, ancient jewelry and artworks, handicrafts and household items demonstrating specific features of the life of the indigenous population. One of the most interesting expositions is the one dedicated to the climatic features of the region. Besides its numerous exhibition halls, the museum's infrastructure includes an interesting souvenir shop and a cozy cafe, as well as a small botanical garden with a pretty interesting collection of representatives of the local flora.
Kota Kinabalu is also known for its monuments of modern architecture. One of the most beautiful and unusual buildings in the city is Sabah Foundation Building . The futuristic building can be found in one of the city's most picturesque districts, in the Likas Bay . Outwardly, it looks like a huge glass with 72 facets. The building is extremely tall, so it is clearly visible from all parts of the city, and it is quite easy to reach it. The luxurious skyscraper houses offices, popular shops and restaurants, so it is always under the eye of tourists.
