Place des Martyrs is a great place for walking, because this is like a real journey into the past. It was named in honor of the warriors of Luxembourg who died during wars. You can bring flowers here in memory of them. The square itself is surrounded by beautiful buildings. The square is called Rousegäertchen by the common people, due to the fact that there are a lot of flowers here brought by people, in remembrance of the fallen heroes. Furthermore, due to this fact, the city is also called the rose capital of Europe. Another great place for a historic walk would be Le Chemin de la Corniche.
It is here, in Luxembourg, the rose capital of Europe, that the Cour de justice de l'Union européenne is located. The building contrasts a little with other architectural structures of historical value. Nevertheless, it fit perfectly into the image of the city, giving it a certain “style”. In Luxembourg, there are several fascinating monuments – for example, the sculptural composition “Maquette de la Fortresse”, which is a miniature city, as well as monuments to great people such as the Grand Duchess Charlotte, Wilhelm II, and the Monument to National Unity.
