Nature fans will be pleased to find multiple trails for walking. Absolutely remarkable forests surround Jurmala, and it’s very interesting to explore them. Moreover, there is a charming botanic garden in the city. The garden is located not far from Kristaps Morgan Holiday complex. Kristaps Morgan himself was the founder of the first greenhouse. After the death of the great architect, the park area was abandoned and looked quite miserable. The magnificent park was completely restored several years ago, and so today it looks just the same as a hundred years ago. The greenhouse still has a part of the exotic plant collection that was formed by the architect. Nowadays, new and interesting “exhibits” regularly appear in the botanic garden.
Dzintari Forest Park remains one of the most beautiful places in the city. This large and well-kept park is perfectly suitable for unhurried walks, a family picnic, or various outdoor activities. There are many paths for walking, charming relaxation areas with benches, and interesting playgrounds for children. It’s important to mention that the park looks attractive regardless of the season. Even in winter, it’s very pleasant to walk there, admiring the beauty of the snow-covered trees.
Jomas Street is one more excellent place for walking and exploring the city. It’s one of the busiest streets of the resort, so the majority of interesting shops and restaurants are open there. You will see many street musicians and artists, as well as merchants who offer popular national souvenirs to guests. It’s a fantastic place to buy quality honey and paintings, well-made hand knit wool garments, and clothes in the national style. Jomas Street is surrounded by a large park zone with numerous wonderful monuments and attractive areas for relaxation.
