Driving Advices for Japan – Traffic Regulations and Road Usage Peculiarities
Previous hints
If on roads of large cities one will surely see different car models by various companies (on average, 5% of all cars have the right-hand drive), then in the country almost all the cars are Japanese. In small country towns it is possible to see the cars, the manufacture of which was discontinued. The locals still continue looking after them and keep them in good condition.
There are no "financial" priorities on local roads. All drivers have the same rights, regardless of the model and price of the car. Arrogant behavior and rudeness on the road is simply unacceptable in Japan, and will surely be regarded as a sign of bad upbringing.
It is worth noting rather a peculiar behavior of the traffic police. The police in Japan do not have the goal of "catching" offenders and issuing heavy fines. Despite the fact that the police are on duty literally everywhere in the country, the main task of law enforcement is to prevent violations in time and not to punish drivers.

Rental, parking and other info on Osaka - Kansai Airport
Kansai International Airport is situated in the middle of Osaka Bay near the city of Osaka, 5 kilometres off the Honshu shore. The airport is built on the artificial island. The island is linked to the mainland by a double-deck bridge. The airport was opened in 1994. The air terminal encompasses two runways and two terminals. Passenger Terminal 1 is considered the main one. Terminal 2 is a low-cost carrier terminal. Terminal 2 building is connected to the Main Terminal and the railway station by free shuttle buses. Kansai International Airport services about 18 million people a year.

In spite of the fact that the airport is located on the island, the city can be reached from here by several means of transport, which are bus, train, taxi or car. The railway station is positioned next to Terminal 1. Buses, trains and express trains go not only to the city of Osaka, but also to the nearest localities. Furthermore, shuttle buses depart from the air terminal to the hotels which are nestled in the city. One can get from KIX to Kobe Airport by high-speed ferry. Buses run between the terminal and the pier.

The following companies provide their car rental services at Kansai International Airport: Nippon Rent-A-Car, NISSAN rent a car, Toyota Rent-A-Car, Orix Rent-A-Car, and Times car rental. The car rental counters are placed within walking distance of Terminal 1, on the first floor of Aeroplaza, a business facility. In the business facility, customers should follow the signs leading to the vehicle rental counters. The car rental counters are found not far from LAWSON and KOKEN shops. Aeroplaza is accessible from the Main Terminal via the 2F connection passage (the arrival level).

A free shuttle bus takes passengers from Terminal 2 to the car rental counters. Rental cars are collected on the spot. One is allowed to return the vehicle on the same day. Travellers should find out the working hours of the companies' representative offices beforehand. It should be noted that such companies as NISSAN rent a car, Toyota Rent-A-Car, Orix Rent-A-Car, and Times car rental do not operate at night. Nevertheless, the representative office of Nippon Rent-A-Car is open 24 hours a day. Read all...
Driving limousine through sights of Osaka
Near the coast is the Osaka Maritime Museum occupying an original spherical building with a facade faced with mirror tiles. The museum opened in 2000 is located on the water - 15 meters away from the shore. The four-story museum features a wide variety of exhibits, from beautiful models of old ships to antique ship equipment. The modern museum has many interactive exhibits, as well as a modern cinema hall where themed movies are shown every day.
Don't ignore the National Museum of Arts that occupies a no less original building. It was designed and constructed especially for the 1970 International Exhibition. Seven years later, it was decided to open a museum within its walls. Today, the museum's collection includes more than 5,000 works of art, including unique paintings by Paul Cezanne, Pablo Picasso, and Vasily Kandinsky.

In the same year, the National Museum of Ethnology received its first visitors. The museum has always been one of the most important cultural centers of Osaka. Currently, it is one of the country's largest museums. Its walls present thousands of exhibits devoted to diverse spheres of life of the indigenous population. Here you can see a collection of ancient weapons, authentic national costumes, traditional musical instruments and household items. A large part of the museum's space is allocated for the storage of artisan crafts and works of art.
