Lovers of walking in historical places must visit the D’Albertis Castle. It was built in the second half of the 19th century and until 1932 belonged to the famous sea captain Enrico Alberto d’Albertis. The beautiful castle in the Neo-Gothic style has been preserved almost in its original form until now. Presently, part of the historic building is occupied by the most interesting Museum of World Cultures, in which exhibits from all parts of the world are collected.
Among the religious attractions, the Church of Santa Maria di Castello deserves a high priority. It was built in the 9th century. Unsurprisingly, this beautiful church changed its appearance many times in more than a thousand years. In the 14th century a monastery was built next to it. This ancient church has been in operation since the foundation. Today in the building of the monastery, which at the beginning of the 20th century fell into poor shape, is a small historical museum.
In 2004, the Galata Museo del Mare was opened in Genoa. It is located in the port region and occupies a very beautiful modern building. The main exhibits of this museum are models of ancient ships of different eras. Still, on its territory there is an interesting library, in which stored samples of old documents, navigation maps and other interesting exhibits, one way or another related to the ship business are stored. This modern museum will be interesting for the whole family to visit.
