Of the other interesting sights in Arezzo, the Fortezza Medicea should be highlighted. It is interesting not only from an architectural point of view, but also from a historical one. The fact is that the fortress is in perfectly good shape, despite the fact that it suffered greatly during Napoleon’s wars. Afterward, it was carefully restored, all thanks to people who are concerned about history. The fortress was built on the orders of the legendary Cosimo de’ Medici, on the highest point in the city (the hills of San Donato). The construction is striking in its scale and grandeur, and the sensations are simply incomparable. You will also be delighted to know that entrance is free of charge.
Yet another tourist sight deserving of special attention is Palazzo della Fraternità dei Laici. It is remarkable for its watches, which not only shows time, but also the phases of the moon, as well as the day of the week. The watches are located on the bell tower of the palace, and the time of their construction dates back to the 16th century. The palace itself was built in the 14th century. It was later rebuilt, more than once actually. The upper part was designed by the great Giorgio Vasari, who is a native of the city. The grace with which the building is made attracts the attention of all visitors to the city. There is a palazzo on Piazza Grande, where, besides it, there are many other interesting places – Chiesa di Santa Maria della Pieve, La Corte Del Re, as well as many chic restaurants and shops.
