Brindisi, Italy: SUV and Offroad Rental Tips
The most popular SUV models offered at rental locations in Brindisi are: BMW X3, Toyota Rav4, Kia Sportage, Toyota Landcruiser, BMW X5, Hyundai Santa Fe and others.

While selecting your preferred model of an off-road vehicle, please examine the rental conditions. In particular, those requirements that concern credit cards – when it comes to renting an expensive car, sometimes offices in Italy ask information about two credit cards.

Before signing the contract in the rental office upon arrival, check that the invoice figures match with figures in your voucher.

Once the vehicle is assigned, inspect it carefully before leaving the parking. Crossovers and SUVs are often used in tough road conditions, therefore scratches and other exteriour defects are inevitable. Due to this, it is important to check and specify all existing defects in your rental documents.

If you plan to use an off-road vehicle in the mountains, it is recommended to order snow chains. This will save you from unexpected incidents. Other important equipment in Italy are mandatory child seats for travellers with children. OrangeSmile.com wishes you a safe trip and green lights on the roads of Brindisi!

The majority of parking lots, equipped with ticket machines, are free from 20:00 to 8:00. Finding a free space on them in the evening is also very difficult, so tourists are recommended to book a hotel, which is equipped with a private parking. In order to leave a car for a night at a multi-level parking lot, you will need to pay around 35 - 40 euro.
It should be noted that local drivers turn on the turn signal only if they are really going to turn. If you just need to move from one lane to another, turning on a turn signal is not necessary. It is simply not common here.
Foreign drivers who travel in a car with foreign numbers are an “easy prey” for the local police. The police can forgive minor violations to local people, while foreigners should not expect such a compromise. Therefore, it is better to follow all the rules punctually.

Enjoying SUV and sightseeing of Brindisi
There are several interesting castles with a rich history in the city. First of all, there is the Castello Svevo di Brindisi. The first mention of the castle at this place dates back to the year 1227. The fortification structure at various times played an important role in the defense of the city. Later, in the 18th-19th centuries, the castle was used as a prison, a warehouse, and then it passed under the command of the Navy. Beautiful views to the port of Brindisi open up from here. Near the castle, you can find the Torrione dell'inferno. This tower was built in the year 1484 and is a part of the castle. The structure was built in a cylindrical form.

Another interesting castle that you should visit is the Castello Aragonese, also called Castello Rosso or Castello Alfonsino. This castle was built in 1481 to protect the city from the east, in place of Benedictine abbey, on a separate island. The building is notable for the fact that the castle has been perfectly preserved up to today, representing a beautiful example of medieval architecture. On the way to the island, you can take a walk through the picturesque port of the city, Marina di Brindisi. Another fortification construction bears the name Bastione San Giacomo. Today, this building belongs to NATO; that is why it is impossible to get inside it. However, anybody can stop to appreciate the building from afar.
