Mitilini will impress travelers with plenty of interesting attractions. The main historical symbol of the city is Genoese Mytilene Castle. According to the historical data, the first fortress was built here in the period of the reign of the Byzantine Empire. For hundreds of years, it was repeatedly destroyed and rebuilt. The fortress was last reconstructed in the 17th century. Since that time, its exterior has remained unchangeable.
