We advise booking a cabriolet in Greece in advance (several weeks or even several months prior to your trip), since the availability of convertibles in our car park is quite limited.

Kalamata, Greece: cabriolet rental hints
The most widespread cabriolet models offered for rent in Greece are: BMW 3 series Cabriolet, Peugeot 206 Cabriolet, Renault Megane Cabriolet and Audi A3 Convertible.

At the booking time, please check the rental conditions carefully. Quite often, rental offices in Kalamata require two credit cards to guarantee issuance of a cabrio or a roadster.

We recommend ordering additional no-excess insurance that covers your risk (franchise), since the franchise amount for cabriolets in Greece is quite high.

Make sure to inspect the rental invoice issued at the office in Kalamata and compare it with the information indicated in your voucher. Sometimes, rental officers make 'unintentional' mistakes in rental invoices.

In parking garage, examine the vehicle for defects and scratches carefully. If you find any of them, check whether they have been specified in your rental document.

When parking a cabriolet in Kalamata, it is recommended to unfold the roof and close windows in order to prevent theft or robbery.

OrangeSmile.com wishes you an exciting journey with an open roof around Greece!

Roads of Crete are considered among the most complex and dangerous roads in the country. On the north coast, highways have quite a good quality. The majority of roads have two lanes. The closer you move to the south coast, the narrower and more winding roads you will have to cope with. Many road sections have the so-called blind bends.
There are many roads covered with gravel in mountain regions. As a rule, there are no boards or road signs on such roads. Before starting a ride on such roads, foreign drivers are recommended to consult local people or ask a travel agency for help in order to find out all necessary information.
It is very problematic to travel in serpentine roads of Crete with children. The motion is likely to make them seek. In order to avoid troubles, tourists are recommended to make frequent stops along the route. Of course, in this case the ride to the place of destination will take a lot more time. Bracelets from motion sickness and special medications that help to deal with seasickness will also be of a great use.

Enjoying sights of Kalamata in cabriolet
An old fort is so called signature place of Kalamata. The building of the fort is connected with economic rise and development of this place. Rich history couldn’t have failed to make its impact on the culture of this place. In 1715 Kalamata was conquered by the Turkish aggressors and after this Turks ruled the town for over than a hundred years. Some buildings and districts of the town still remind of those uneasy times. In 1821 Kalamata was freed and in the beginning of the 19th century started the building of a port that became an important factor in success and prosperity of the town. Today this port is the second largest port in Peloponnesus.
It’s time to return to cultural and historical heritage and here we simply cannot fail to mention a beautiful Church of Saint Apostles that was built in the 5th century. Nearby the church is located a railway park – the biggest park in the city. Benakis Museum features a collection of historical artifacts found during the excavations. The Municipal Gallery and Gallery of Modern Greek Art will show you collections of art created by local painters and sculptures.

One of the main holidays of Kalamata is the International Dance Festival. In the town are opened several internationally famous dancing schools, which students traditionally participate in the festival. Tourists, who visit Kalamata during the festival, will enjoy this fascinating event and find real pleasure in watching performances of participants.
