London City Airport is a small airport with a single runway, located in Docklands in the eastern part of the city. It services business flights to central London. The airport only takes planes with short take-off and landing. LCY is one of the five international London airports. It became operational in 1987. In order to rent a car in LCY you should leave the terminal, since car rental offices are located next to it. Several major international car rental companies are situated on the territory of the airport. These are Avis, Budget, Europcar, and Hertz. Unfortunately, their offices do not operate round the clock. Their work schedule depends on flight timetables. You may book a vehicle beforehand through online services (for example, Scantri, etc.). You will only have to present your international driver license and your bank card at a car rental office.

Hertz's offices are found in immediate proximity to the short-term parking, next to the bus stop, and also in the long-term parking. Avis rental offices are located not only in the terminal opposite the baggage claim area, but also in the taxi stand. Budget and Europcar's car rental facilities are in the terminal building. Besides, there is Europcar's car rental office in the King George V Dock, where the company shuttle goes from the airport. The car can be returned either to the parking lot near the airport or to the place agreed under the contract.

The car-sharing service is provided in the airport. It operates through the application service DriveNow. A membership card is necessary to use the service. You may return a vehicle in the areas of DriveNow anywhere in the city or in the airport.

Long-term and short-term parking, hotels nearby

A long-term parking lot and a short term one are provided for vehicles. Both of them are located within walking distance of the Terminal. One can take advantage of valet parking service at the long-term car park. In case you make a parking space preliminary reservation, you can get a reduction of up to 80%. The airport has free parking for motorcycles and bicycles under the light metro bridge.
