The ancient water tower is an original symbol of the city. It was built in 1889 and up to the year 2000, was used for its intended purpose. The height of this tower is 60 meters, and its diameter at the base is about 19 meters. Presently, the tower is surrounded by a picturesque modern park, where cozy places with benches for rest, are built. On the local square, interesting cultural events are often conducted.
Among the cultural sites is the Kunsthalle Mannheim Museum. It is located in a spectacular building with a century-old history and presents visitors with an interesting collection of contemporary art. In this gallery, there is a collection of works by Theodore Gericault and Gustave Courbet. Also, it often hosts exhibitions of famous contemporary photographers and artists.
The most unusual sight of Mannheim is the Chinese Garden. It was formed in 2001 and is located in the extensive Luisenpark. This charming garden is notable for the fact that it houses the largest tea house in Europe. It was built in full accordance with the classical tea houses of China. The main building materials for its construction were natural wood and stone. Here, visitors are offered more than 30 types of tea, each of which is brewed in full accordance with the traditions of tea drinking.
