Stuttgart Airport is located near the capital of German state of Baden-Württemberg. Originally, it was named after one of the mayors, Manfred Rommel. Every year, the airport services about 11 million passengers. It is the sixth in the passenger turnover in the country. The airport is located 10 km from Stuttgart. It was built in 1939. At the end of the Second World War, the airport came to the US Army. In 1948, it passed to the public management of Germany. Since the Cold War, the part of the airport has been used by the US Forces as a military air base. Also, the airport serves as a base for one of the helicopter units of the Stuttgart police.
At Stuttgart airport, there are four passenger terminals connected with each other by crossings, one air-strip, and one helicopter pad.
Near the territory of STR, there is the autobahn A8 and the federal highway B27. The bus station is located under the parking lot P14. From the railway station, you can reach the airport by suburban train S-Bahn (lines S2 and S3). At the airport, you can use taxi, limo, and transfer services.
