One of the main landmarks of Muenster is the City Museum (or Stadtmuseum) which exposition is devoted to the most significant events of the city history. The age of some showpieces exceeds thousand years. One of the museum halls is totally dedicated to the World War II. The museum frequently holds engaging cultural events, exhibitions and seminars.
Among architectural landmarks and sights of the city the Palace (or the Schloss) is considered to be the most significant one. The Palace is located in the historical part of the city of Muenster. At present the ancient palace hosts a university. The palace sides with a well equipped vast parkland. The Pablo Picasso Museum of Graphic Art (Graphikmuseum Pablo Picasso) is a must-visit place for excursion and tour fans. The opening of the museum was held in 2000.
The exposition of the museum includes about eight hundreds of artworks of the renowned painter and artist. Among the shopieces one will find as completed artworks, so sketches and rough creations. A significant excursion object is the Muhlenhof open air museum depicting the atmosphere and environment of a typical village of the early medieval period. The museum visitors may observe unusual constructions and buildings, walk along the lake banks and listen to engaging stories on the traditions, customs and way of life of local folks of past ages.
