The city of Nuremberg offers its guests a rich cultural program as the tourist destination has preserved plenty of historical landmarks and sights and offers various museums for exploration. A significant spot of tourist interest is the Albrecht Durerâ€™s House owned by the famous painter at the turn of 15th and 16th centuries. The house served as a workshop for the painter. Today the building is reequipped into an interesting museum devoted to the creative work of the artist. Apart from astonishing paintings the museum presents a vast collection of antique units once owned by the painter.
One of the main symbols of the city is a fountain with unusual name of Ehekarussel meaning the Marriage marry-go-round. The fountain is decorated with original statuary group created by Juergen Weber. The author of the fountain composition was inspired for creating of the masterpiece by the work of the poet Hans Sachs. The statuary group is a kind of illustration of one of the poetâ€™s creations.
The German National Museum will be of great interest for all city guests. Its opening was held in 1852 and nowadays it is the largest scale museum devoted to culture of Germany. Its exposition presents more than two millions of showpieces among which tourists will find art creations and household items of local folks, antique firearms and handicrafts as well as archeological artifacts discovered on the territory of the city.
