A large part of historical buildings of Hamburg was destroyed in a fire in 1842. Later historical monuments of the city were damaged during the Second World War. From the excursion point of view the Old Town is the most interesting part of the city. Without a doubt, the local Town Hall is the most striking landmark of the district. The beautiful building in the neo-Renaissance style was built in 1887. The height of the Town Hall’s tower is 112 meters. Several halls of the old town hall are still used for important business events. Everyone is able to step inside and enjoy the luxurious decoration of the halls of the building. Special excursions for tourists are held absolutely every day.
Hamburg is home to a huge number of religious sites, each of which has its own unique architectural style and unique history. Beautiful medieval altars are a no less remarkable element of the church. They were installed immediately after the foundation of the church.
