Indigenous people of Bretagne consider themselves descendants of the Celts; they feature a very hospitable and cheerful nature. Locals are very patriotic and treat the national culture with great respect and awe. They are sincere and straightforward, persistent and quite severe that may initially alert guests from other countries. Just look into a typical national restaurant or bar located in one of the villages to understand how pleasant and open locals are.
They always welcome new guests and treat them as good old friends. In rural places you can taste real apple cider, which is considered the national drink, and enjoy the most popular national dishes in their classical version. Don’t be surprised if the barkeeper would ask to throw a chuck in a fireplace or talk with new acquaintances, as such behavior and communication style is quite appropriate here.
One of the most important and large-scale cultural events of the region is held in Lorient. The Inter-Celtic Festival, which is attended by residents of different countries, is celebrated here every year. It's an incredibly fun celebration that brings participants back for several centuries; the international festival is attended by hundreds of thousands of foreign visitors. Colorful old-fashioned fairs, Celtic music and dance, amazing outdoor activities and plenty of treats are main attributes of this colorful holiday.
