Driving Advices for France – Traffic Regulations and Road Usage Peculiarities
Previous hints
It’s very easy to determine the type of a road in France. There is always a corresponding letter next to the number of each of them: β€œA” is for highways, β€œN” means national roads, β€œD” is for departmental roads, and β€œC” is for utility roads. The latter have a speed limit of 30 km/h.
It’s also very simple to determine the type of parking - the "blue zone" parking is an area where you can leave your car for no longer than 1.5 hours, the "green zone" is intended for a long-term parking, and in the "red zone" parking is prohibited.
The parking disc and parking tickets bought in special machines should be placed on the inner side of the windshield so that they are clearly visible.

In the historical district, there is a beautiful Church of Our Lady of Hope. It was built in the early 17th century and is a striking monument in the Gothic style. This church managed to preserve its original appearance almost completely. The interior design, which is modest, has hardly changed for hundreds of years. This amazing church is a real cultural center. In the summer, as part of a music festival, concerts and other thematic events are held here.

Not far from the Palace of Festivals is the beautiful temple of Notre-Dame de Bon Voyage, whose history is also very interesting. The very first chapel in its place was built in the 16th century. At that time it was surrounded only by dilapidated fishing huts. The temple, which travelers can admire now, was built in the second half of the 19th century. Now it is surrounded by the most significant city attractions.

Among the local sacred sites, it is worth mentioning the Lerins abbey. It is a landmark of national importance. This ancient monastery is visited by pilgrims from all over the world. It is located on the picturesque island of Saint-Honorat. The monastery is a large and incredibly compound complex of buildings, including churches, fortifications and outbuildings. Surrounding the monastery is a large beautiful garden, a walk along which is also an obligatory part of the excursion. For many years, this monastery has been famous for producing wonderful wine and liqueurs. Right on its territory monks grow oranges, lavender and grapes, from which with secret recipes, they brewed wonderful drinks.
