An equally interesting attraction is Le Marche Central (Central Market) located in the south of Djibouti. Walking along the waterfront past the Presidential Palace, one can get to a yacht port, which is considered to be another important city attraction. A unique natural attraction is Lake Assal that was formed in a deep crater and lies 153 meters below sea level. The lake is surrounded by incredibly beautiful volcanic landscapes on all sides. Tourists have a unique opportunity to stroll through the fields of hardened lava and admire the wild beauty. The famous lake is locally known under the nickname Bay of Demons. The attraction was named so because of the unique volcanic landscapes.
