In the Czech Republic, there are very strict rules regarding the use of alcoholic beverages. Drivers are absolutely not allowed to consume alcohol. At night, the police often make checks. They can stop any vehicle and offer the driver to pass a breath test in order to check the blood alcohol content. Drivers are not recommended to refuse, because in this case the result is automatically considered positive.
If you take the breath test, and your blood alcohol content is less than 0.3 ppm, the amount of the fine will range from 2,500 to 20,000 koruny. The suspension of the driving license for a period from 6 to 12 months is often imposed as an additional punishment.
If the blood alcohol content is more than 0.3 ppm, the amount of the fine will be significantly higher, and will vary from 25 000 to 50 000 koruny. In addition to the fine, the offender will be prohibited to drive vehicles from 1 to 10 years.
