Fans of museum tours should not miss the opportunity to visit the Pierides Museum in Larnaca. This is a private museum that was founded in 1839 by the mayor of the city. The mayor was not indifferent to objects of art so he has gathered an excellent collection of sculptures, paintings, and jewelry. Now the museum's collection includes more than 2,500 exhibits belonging to different eras, and the building in which it is housed is of great architectural value.
One of the most unusual and interesting in the city is the Kyriazis Medical Museum that was opened quite recently, in 2011. Among its exhibits are medical equipment and documents that clearly illustrate the development of medicine. Here you can see devices with the help of which medicines were prepared as far back as ancient times. The museum occupies a historic villa with a small garden where medicinal plants have been grown for many years.

In this pottery, you can watch the work of skillful potters, buy some incredibly beautiful tableware and home decorations made of clay, as well as take part in exciting workshops.
Not far from the city there is an interesting archaeological region called Khirokitia. Here, researchers discovered a Neolithic settlement that was quite large and consisted of about a hundred houses. This ancient settlement is shrouded in many legends. According to one of them, its inhabitants' life was centered around a cult of the dead. They buried their deceased relatives right on the territory of their homes. During the study of this area, they've found lots of interesting artifacts, which can be seen in the local Archaeological Museum.
