Costa Rica - Roadster/Convertible Hire

Searching for open roof cars

Preset configuration of the white form above - search for an exotic car or a cabriolet at 'San Jose- Downtown'. Address: Ave. 18, Calles 11 Y 13, San Jose, Costa Rica, Costa Rica.

In Costa Rica, we provide vehicles at 3 different rental locations. Cars with a folding roof are rather of a rare type, so they are mostly offered in airports and railway stations.

We advise booking a cabriolet in Costa Rica in advance (several weeks or even several months prior to your trip), since the availability of convertibles in our car park is quite limited.

Costa Rica, Costa Rica: cabriolet rental hints
The most widespread cabriolet models offered for rent in Costa Rica are: Renault Megane Cabriolet, Chrysler Sebring Convertible, Ford Mustang Convertible and VW Eos Convertible.

At the booking time, please check the rental conditions carefully. Quite often, rental offices in Costa Rica require two credit cards to guarantee issuance of a cabrio or a roadster.

We recommend ordering additional no-excess insurance that covers your risk (franchise), since the franchise amount for cabriolets in Costa Rica is quite high.

Make sure to inspect the rental invoice issued at the office in Costa Rica and compare it with the information indicated in your voucher. Sometimes, rental officers make 'unintentional' mistakes in rental invoices.

In parking garage, examine the vehicle for defects and scratches carefully. If you find any of them, check whether they have been specified in your rental document.

When parking a cabriolet in Costa Rica, it is recommended to unfold the roof and close windows in order to prevent theft or robbery.

OrangeSmile.com wishes you an exciting journey with an open roof around Costa Rica!

Driving Advices for Costa Rica – Traffic Regulations and Road Usage Peculiarities
Previous hints
The priority of drivers comparing to pedestrians is another distinguishing feature of local roads. Pedestrians are obliged to give way to cars always and everywhere, even on a crosswalk. Foreign drivers must be particularly careful when overcoming traffic lights and pedestrian crossings. Do not expect that vehicles that move in front of and behind you will stop to give way to people.
Local motorists generally stick to one rule - they warn other vehicles in case there’s a road patrol. Just like in many other countries, they use flashing lights, recommending other drivers to be more careful.
If you look at other drivers, you will definitely notice many traffic violations, starting from minor ones (driving with unfastened seat belts) to severe violations (driving on the oncoming lane or passing a red light). Speeding is considered the most serious traffic violation, so the majority of fines are issued for this breach.

Enjoying sights of San Jose in cabriolet
No less interesting is the festival that is called Fiestas de Palmares. It takes place on the central streets of Palmares, which is located near the capital of the country. At the time of the event, the city turns into “Rio de Janeiro of Costa Rica”. The celebration is accompanied by costume processions, horse parades, dances, rodeos, amusement rides, musical concerts, and theatrical shows. This is perhaps one of the most colorful and fun feasts in the entire country. It demonstrates to the guests of Costa Rica the hospitable and groovy character of the locals. Beer tasting is considered to be a special tradition of the celebration. Alcohol is flowing like from the “cornucopia”. It is consumed in huge amounts during the two weeks of the holiday.

Another tradition is the “transformed” corrida called Toros a la Tica, which is more comical and less extreme comparing to the Spanish version. It confirms the merry disposition of the Islanders one more time. The holiday ends up with bright fireworks. It is so popular among locals and tourists that about a million people visit it every year. Speaking about religious holidays, a special place is occupied by Easter (also known as Semana Santa), which usually falls in the middle of April. The actors from the Teatro Nacional troupe take part in the annual procession through the streets of the capital of Costa Rica, which is precisely one of the reasons why the parade is considered as one of the most impressive.
