Winnipeg James Armstrong Richardson International Airport (also known as Winnipeg International Airport) is located in the province of Manitoba, Canada. The airport was built in 1928 and was originally named Stevenson Aerodrome. In 1962, it was renamed Winnipeg International Airport. In 2006, it was renamed again in honour of a businessman and one of the founders of Canadian commercial aviation.
The airport handles around 4.5 million people a year, which makes it the seventh busiest airline hub in Canada. Canadian Forces Base Winnipeg is located at the airport. Winnipeg Airport serves domestic flights, general aviation, and international flights – America, Mexico, the Caribbean, the United Kingdom. The airline hub location makes it the only airport not only for its province but also for neighbouring ones. The airport infrastructure includes two terminals (the main one and the Perimeter Aviation regional airline terminal), a mail processing centre, and two runways.
Two bus routes regularly circulate between YWG and the city. There’s a bus station near the main passenger terminal. Passengers can take a taxi (Exit 3), a limousine, use transfer, or rent a car.
