Both the locals and visitors frequent its small and sandy beaches with great enjoyment. Some of them have stunning coastal rock formations. Cies Island, a piece of land surrounded by brilliant white beaches, is observable from many of the coastal beaches. There is a major nature reserve on it, which is famous throughout Europe.
Its beautiful surroundings and beneficial geographic location has made people want to crave for Vigo in all times. It is impossible to overstress Vigo's historic importance as a center of fishing industry, which used to play a decisive role in the city's economy.
