The history of Toledo is long and rich with events. First it was conquered by Rome 190 B.C. (and got its name) and became a significant town of that period that continued until the fall of the Roman Empire the King of the Visigoths founded his Court in Toledo and the town became a the political and religious capital of Hispania. In 712 A.D. it was captured by the Moors which ruling continued for more than 300 years.

When the city passed to Alfonso VI many of the Muslims made up their minds not to leave the territory but to stay there together with Christians and Jews.

They Had lived in harmony for many centuries by that time and did not wish to introduce so great changes in their lives as, for example, to move to some other territory. That harmony of cultures was not only comfortable for their representatives but also rather productive. The School of Translators of Toledo appeared to be one of positive and socially useful results of this communion of cultures.
