Santander, the capital city of Cantabria, is located on the northern coast of Spain. It is both a prosperous Atlantic port and a charming coastal resort mainly targeted at Spanish tourists. Santander is well known for its mild (though rainy) climate, amazing scenery and a gentle pace of life. Its sandy clean beaches and crystal clear waters attract many visitors each year.
Santander offers a wide range of travel options. You can take advantage of leisure activities such as visiting museums and theatres, going in for sports or taking excursions. There are many impressive historic buildings from the 19th century and the beginning of 20th century (the old quarter of Santander was destroyed by a fire in 1941).
If you prefer a close contact with nature, you can visit parks of Peña Cabarga, Saja-Besaya and Oyambre or admire the picturesque landscape in Picos de Europa.
